There's a growing army of credentialed lumpenproles, some of whom work for starvation wages as adjunct faculty. I hear that over 5,000 janitors have PhDs or professional degrees. Acquiring credentials to advance oneself socially and economically has become a sick joke as there are millions of people with degrees and upto their neck in debt. Individual solutions to the collective problem of a predatory and irrational economic system tend not to work.
