I really look foward to the film.

We have been fed politically correct nonsense about the Civil War -- and one huge thing left out, is that many people in the SOuth hated the Confederacy, and with good reason.

There is no way the South loses, if they had anything near the support from the public as most people assume they had.

As this book shows, there were parts of the South that rose up against the CSA.

But more than that, over 3/4 of the Southern soldiers deserted!

Jeff Davis himself said that 2/3 of the soldiers had deserted by summer of 1864, and after that, desertions just got worse.

True, many of the early rebels were "true believers" -- but as the war sent on, many "average joe" realized they were fighting for slave owner, who was immune from the draft.

Nearly 100% of the Confederate leaders were slave owners, or came from slave owning families.

The desertions didn't just take place in the last two years.

Elizabeth Pryor shows in her book "Reading the Man" that EARLY in the war, Lee had sharpshooters placed behind his own troops, to shoot his own men who ran from battle. That's very Stalin like. (Page 410)Seekerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10206503506011763393noreply@blogger.com
